Genre Analysis
For this assignment, I think I did my 2nd best work. I think I accomplished the purpose of this assignment very well, I covered the ethos, pathos and logos- the only thing that got to me was the APA format, which I am not accustomed, since I am used to the MPA format. The changes I made in between the Rough and Final Drafts were to get into the details deeper, see what other problems are there and the causes of said problems and finding the solutions. I think with my genre analysis, I think I covered what my topic (whitewashing in the media) fairly well and that the audience would understand it from reading it first hand and then would want to get into the topic more. For me, as a filmmaker, it reaches to me to a professional level. Anyway, with the revisions that was later made onto the Final, I believe was effective.
Literature Review
For this assignment, I put all of my effort into it- I worked relentlessly to get it to the core of whitewashing in the media. I think I was too focused on getting a lot of examples of whitewashing occurring in Hollywood and sources backing up these claims, however I don't think I brought in enough pathos, which would've helped out my literature review quite a bit. The APA format got to me again, but for this assignment, I didn't care to be quite honest, considering that I was too busy with researching throughout the net about whitewashing in the media- I was literally taking in anything that would help my argument and topic. I rushed this assignment quite a tiny bit, and I think that if I had taken my time with it and had done another revision of this, then possibly I would've caught that I had no pathos in it, and I would've added pathos. The APA format would still not be there, but I would've done something about the missing pathos. But, once again, other than that, I think that this covered it and it was a solid job. Not a good job, like I had been hoping for, but still- a solid job for hard work. "A" for Effort, right?
Opinion Piece
For this assignment, I completely underestimated. I believe I was naive into thinking that I already knew everything about the topic, because I already did two assignments of it. So, because of that- I did rush this one and didn't put a lot of focus into it. I believe that I got my opinion out there by saying a lot on what I think of whitewashing in the media topic. But once again, not as like I had hoped. A rushed opinion is a messy opinion.
Documentary Project
Now for this project, this was the project I had been waiting for all semester, since I'm an aspiring filmmaker. Now, because of that, I wanted to take my time with this project, use the time that I had (2 weeks) wisely and put all of my research together correctly that would make the project more effective. And in the end, I believe that I did my job by getting the message across the room with visual examples and hardcore facts. I think that this is my best work of all of the assignments I have done in the entire semester. Not only because I have a desire in media work, but the way it was all put together and it was organized and structured- I really, really liked how it turned out to be. And I think I did accomplish the purpose of this assignment, which was getting people to know that some movies that they care and love are not so innocent as they seem to be- look closer to the actors; the cast members and how they may or may not fit with the film.
